This year that has been a terrible challenge, but one worth fighting for. Now that the country is embroiled in a debate about "gay marriage", it pains us to see our "non-issue" become THE issue in a heated and divisive debate. However, now that President Bush has endorsed the idea of amending the Constitution of the United States to ban gay marriage, it is even more important that gay and lesbian Republicans, our friends and families unite behind our shared principles. We are Republicans because we believe in limited government, free markets, a strong national defense, and personal responsibility. Some of us are straight. Some of us are gay or lesbian, and some of us think it is nobody's business but our own what we are. All of us are Americans."
